What happened on that day?
A human being died,
Executed on a cross
And all creation cried.
What happened on that day?
How could we ever see
The struggle that took place there for
Eternal destiny?
What happened on that day?
I don’t know; I can’t explain
I only know that my life shows
He did not die in vain.
What happened on that day?
I was not there to see;
But when he died, I also cried,
Because he died for me
What happened on that day,
When human blood and sweat
Stained the soil of holy land
Without human regret?
What happened on that day
Upon that sacred sod,
When he, one with the Father, was
Forsaken there by God?
What happened on that day?
What human tongue can tell
Of the one who suffered there
The agonies of hell?
What happened on that day?
A man from Nazareth died:
If he were God in human flesh,
Then God was crucified!
What happened on that day?
No mind can comprehend
When God broke through all time and space
And there became our sin.
What happened on that day?
All the world was shaken,
When one who claimed oneness with God,
Died there God-forsaken.
A marvelous piece that exalts the sacrifice of our precious Lord and Savior; perhaps one day, when we are called home, we will be able to completely understand the grace and love shown to us; wonderfully written!

Reaching Towards His Unbounded Glory
A Journey Of... Poetic Purpose
Joe, I like your use of "perhaps." I am sure that on that day we will instantly know so much more than we can ever know in this life; but somehow I think that because of the infinite quality of God's grace, we will spend eternity growing faster than the speed of light in our knowledge and never comprehend it all! --Stan
ReplyDeleteStan,it is good to remember that in the Trinity there are three persons .God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. What is so astonishing is that God the Son died such a terrible death so willingly,so that we might have eternal life.
ReplyDeleteThank you and God Bless.
